Dietzgen tables are our favorite. Eugene Dietzgen, the founder, was born in Germany, spent some years in Russia, and arrived in New York at the age of 19. his work is renown for impeccable German engineering, and became a trendsetter for drafting tables years to come. blueprints for expansive industrialization in the United States and beyond were created with the aid of Dietzgen-manufactured products. so we didn’t take the restoring of this piece lightly.
both top and base have been sanded and sealed with German Osmo top oil – a product that is food-safe, extremely water and chemical resistant, very durable and hardwearing. It’s a microporous, breathable finish which does not crack, peel or flake, and no sanding is necessary for spot repairs or future applications.
