I’m afraid that I have never seen in my whole life a place that was totally devoid of garbage or waste. Like the majority of people nowadays, I have traveled quite a lot, and in all the places where I’ve been, even in apparently pristine landscapes, such as high mountain paths or natural parks, there is always the memory of some garbage. Maybe hidden, perhaps barely visible and half buried, faded by the sun and worn out from the weather, mainly plastic, now part of nature.
In the countryside of southern Italy, especially in Puglia, just digging in the ground it is very easy to uncover relics of ancient Greek civilization: pieces of amphorae, shards of pottery, coins. It’s too easy to say that this was a refined civilization, so that we still consider its waste like works of art, while ours is a barbarian society that submerged the planet of trash. Will we arrive at the point of saying that the difference is only quantitative?… Will it happen, in a near future, that we will come to replace the ruins of antiquity with the scraps of our consumerism?
I was born in 1971 in Turin, Italy, where I live and work as an artist. My main artistic technique is oil painting, on stretched canvas or white fine art paper prepared for oil painting. Usually my work proceeds with the sedimentation of several layers, one after the other. And often each drawing or painting, also if it is sold alone, belongs to a wider series of works. In each series I try to explore and study a peculiar aspect of representation, decoration and languages. Once ended, the painting is finished with a coat of varnish to protect against sunlight and dust. The canvases are painted on the sides too, so they are ready to hang. I have sold my works on several online galleries. My sold pieces are never rolled up but always packed flat. I put them between two sheets of acid free paper with paper or cardboard protection for the corners, and then they are closed in a plastic envelope and bubble packaging. The envelope is stiffen with a sheet of polystyrene on both sides, and the whole thing is completed with a cardboard casing outside. Usually the artwork is shipped in 2/3 days after receiving the payment. All my artworks are original unique paintings, signed. Certificate of Authenticity included.
