It’s virtually impossible to accurately describe this truly incredible work of hand blown, studio art glass by the 20C American Modern master glass artist, Robert Eickholt. The description & accompanying listing images fall short of properly representing this piece. While certainly informed by & inflected with Art Nouveau form, & technique, this is 20C mastery of its own genre & singular presence. As with much of Robert Eickholt’s art glass, first look is one thing, but the transformational character of the glass reveals a depth of artistry & light conducting magic, which suggest that this vase is simply put-‘alive’. The pulled feather patterning & shape of this form is a clear progression of Eickholt’s earlier ‘King Tut’, & the curves flow with transformative iridescence- reflecting violet, cobalt, verdant green, luminous metals. Light traveling through this piece reveals an amber body, seamlessly ‘gilded’ throughout with a shifting aurene cloak. Wow-just really, Wow. This is an Eickholt masterpiece-& an art glass geek’s piece. Condition is excellent, & the vessel is hand signed by the artist & dated 1997 on the underside. I haven’t seen another Eickholt as compelling & exciting as this. No filters or photoshop involved-it looks many ways.
