With a shared love of all things French and vintage we opened our shop in 2011.
Based in France, between Cognac and La Rochelle, we source unusual items from recent French and European history. Everyday French household items from the 1880's to 1980's which, although at one time were plentiful, are now increasingly rare and collectible. We source specialist props for films/photo shoots and interior designers. Many of our 'finds' are currently on display in a number of top New York restaurants and Hollywood apartments.

This is a stunning set of four antique French books with faded blue/grey/sea green spines and antique cream covers. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect. There are works here by some of France's most famous writers, such as Molière and Boileau, Corneille, Racine and Voltaire to give your bookshelves added French Chic!
These four books are really old, the oldest one being 164 years old, the newest 111 years old!
They are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose, yellowed with age spots.
The titles are:
Théâtre Choisi de Molière (hard cover 1908 edition.) This book contains Molières famous plays and notes such as 'Le Tartuffe ou l'imposteur' that was first performed in 1664 and is one of the most famous theatrical comedies by Molière. The characters of Tartuffe, Elmire, and Orgon are considered among the greatest classical theatre roles.
'Dom Juan ou le festin de Pierre', first performed in 1665 it is a comedy in five acts based on the legend of Don Juan.
and 'Le Misanthrope', first performed in 1666, this play satirizes the hypocrisies of French aristocratic society. There are many more of his works in this book (twenty altogether) such as 'L'Avare' and 'L'Ecole des femmes'.
This book has a beautiful handwritten inscription on the inside cover, dated 1916.
Oeuvres Choisies de Boileau (hard cover 1883 edition.) A book of works from the Famous French poet and critic Nicolas Boileau-Despréaux (1 November 1636 – 13 March 1711.)
Oeuvres Poétiques de Boileau Despréaux (hard cover 1855 edition.) This book was published by France's famous Parisian publisher 'Librairie Hachette' and contains more of Boileau's works.

and Polyeucte from 1642.
Three works by Jean-Baptiste Racine who was a French dramatist, one of the three great playwrights of 17th-century France (along with Moliere and Corneille.)

and Athalie, a 1691 play.
The Misanthrope, or the Cantankerous Lover, a comedy of manners in verse first performed in 1666 by Molière.
