*Baker & Co. was founded in 1890. Their expertise includes carving, inlay and joinery, in a variety of styles and types. They hand-select woods and veneers for each individual item, choosing woods that are superior in color, cut and character. They also use solid cast brass hardware, the finest stones and glass, and even the highest quality resins and gessos.
The result is furniture with an extra measure of refinement, a quality that becomes more evident through each decade. Baker Furniture Co is still in business today, releasing collections celebrating innovative designers and opening show rooms worldwide.
Michael Taylor (born Earnest Charles Taylor, 1927 – June 3, 1986) was an American designer best known for creating the “California Look” of interior design. In 1956, he founded his design company, Michael Taylor Interiors, Inc. Under Michael Taylor Designs, he manufactured his own designs and in 1985 partnered with Paul Weaver to develop and market interior and exterior furnishings to the wholesale design trade. Taylor worked continuously until his death in 1986.
