This is a stunning set of seven Antique French Books in Faded Blue Tones. They are 'Aged to Perfection' and will give you an instant 'Old Library' effect. There are plays by France's Famous Pierre Corneille in this book bundle to give your bookshelves added French Chic! They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft blues and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. This 'blue' book bundle is made up of French, Antiquarian Books and School Books, very collectible and increasingly hard to find. They are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting. The seven books are all hard cover editions, they are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose: The titles are: Le Disciple - Paul Bourget (1929 edition.) This novel has a wonderful 'marbleized' effect on the cover. Opera - C. Cornelii Taciti (edition date unknown but believed to be mid -late 1800's) This fascinating book on the works of the great Roman Senator and Historian,Publius Cornelius Tacitus, is published in its original latin form with discussions, summaries and notes in French. Memento de Sténographie - Paul Fleury et Ernest Roy (edition date unknown) This is a fascinating book of Shorthand. It is an interesting and mesmerising complete guide in French note taking, using shorthand! La Première année d'Histoire de France, cours moyen (9-11 ans) - Ernest Lavisse (1907 edition.) Corneille (edition date unknown but believed to be early 1900's.) Le Cid is a five-act French tragicomedy written by Pierre Corneille, first performed in December 1636 at the Théâtre du Marais in Paris. This book contains the play and notes. Horace - P. Corneille (1918 edition.) Horace is a play by the French dramatist Pierre Corneille, drawing on Livy's account of the battle between the Horatii and the Curiatii. Written in reply to critics of his work 'Le Cid', it was dedicated to cardinal Richelieu and proved the author's second major success on its premiere in March 1640. This book contains the play plus accompanying notes. Histoire de France, cours moyen - G. Faubert et E. Huleux (1923 edition) From the origins of France, the Gauloise and Charlemagne to the Revolution and the Great War - France's rich history in glorious detail.
