Tiggy & Pip is a vintage home décor shop by mother and son décor and interior design loving duo, Tiggy and Pip Coudray.
With a shared love of all things French and vintage we opened our shop in 2011.
Based in France, between Cognac and La Rochelle, we source unusual items from recent French and European history. Everyday French household items from the 1880's to 1980's which, although at one time were plentiful, are now increasingly rare and collectible. We source specialist props for films/photo shoots and interior designers. Many of our 'finds' are currently on display in a number of top New York restaurants and Hollywood apartments.

Designed to give your bookshelves added 'French chic', this is a stunning set of six antique French books in faded turquoise/sea green/inky blue tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect. They can be used as photo and film props, as well as table centrepieces for boho weddings and shabby chic displays.
They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft turquoise, 'aqua' blues and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots.
This book bundle is made up of French, antiquarian school books, very collectible and increasingly hard to find. They are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. They have been held and read by many, many people who have 'thumbed through' them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.
Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.
The six books are all hard cover editions, they are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose:
The titles are:
Rhétorique et Genres Littéraires - F. de Caussade (1887 edition.) This is a fabulous book from the late 1800's full of literary examples on the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the exploitation of figures of speech and other compositional techniques.
La Physique et la Chimie du Brevet Elémentaire - A. Brémant (1884 edition.) A fascinating book packed full of exciting science, covering topics from electricity, water vapour, meteorology and magnetism to elements. This book does have a few missing pages.
Notices Historiques - F. Oger (1896 edition.) This book was used to complement a course of study for students of philosophy and rhetoric.
Leçons de Chimie - Mlle.B. Gauthier (1905 edition.) Everything you need to know about chemistry, from the early 1900's, is here. Chemical experiments and observations for higher level students.
La Littérature Expliquée - Ch.-M des Granges et CH. Charrier (1959 edition.) Selected writings from all of France's famous authors such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Racine, Rousseau, La Fontaine, Corneille, Daudet, and Molière to name but a few!
La Grammaire Nouvelle et le Français, classe de cinquième - A. Souche et J. Lamaison ( 1943 edition.) An amazing book, packed full of language exercises, analysis and verb conjugations.
If you wish to display the books in a bundle/stack with string (like the photos) then you would need a minimum space of 15cms/6" high x 21cms/ 8¼" long x 14cms/ 5½" deep.
They weigh 2.7kgs/ 6lbs.
