OBJECTS OF ART in COMMERCE-from the ModHogs of MonDenNYC
A very lovely & dynamic Poole Pottery Shape 84 Vessel in a quite large size from the Delphis range, dating from the late1960's. It's a wonderfully unique and iconic example; a good period for this style of pot. The incised patterning, stunning glaze variations and unusual form make this a special piece of earthenware from the Delphis range. In absolutely perfect condition-throughout, & signed with **(#)the artist's mark, the ubiquitous Poole Dolphin stamp + shape number. As the Poole Delphis range is hand painted - each piece is unique. This very desirable vessel aligns w/the strong, mid 20C appetite for the unique textures and glazes of the fat Lava type.
**(#)This artist's mark was used by the great Nellie Bishton, but was also used by a younger artist-Josephine Wall, who worked on the Delphis range from '67-'68, & was perhaps a student of Bishton's, who gained provenance to adopt the mark. Many of the Delphis painters were young women, fresh from art college and at the beginning of their careers. This cadre was prolific in manifesting fresh and inspired works.
