Tiggy & Pip
Tiggy & Pip is a vintage home décor shop by mother and son décor and interior design loving duo, Tiggy and Pip Coudray. With a shared love of all things French and vintage we opened our shop in 2011. Based in France, between Cognac and La Rochelle, we source unusual items from recent French and European history. Everyday French household items from the 1880's to 1980's which, although at one time were plentiful, are now increasingly rare and collectible. We source specialist props for films/photo shoots and interior designers. Many of our 'finds' are currently on display in a number of top New York restaurants and Hollywood apartments.

Description

Price includes shipping - see shipping notes. This is a stunning set of six antique French books in faded cream and white tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect. There are works here by some of France's most famous writers, such as Victor Hugo, Gustave Flaubert and Alphonse Daudet to give your bookshelves added French chic! They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration. Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting. The six books are all paperback editions, distressed from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose: The titles are: Morceaux Choisis de Victor Hugo, Poésie. (1933 edition.) Victor Hugo (26 February 1802 – 22 May 1885) was a French poet, novelist, and dramatist of the Romantic movement. Hugo is considered to be one of the greatest and best-known French writers. L'éducation Sentimentale - Gustave Flaubert (1957 edition.) Gustave Flaubert (12 December 1821 – 8 May 1880) was a French novelist. Highly influential, he has been considered the leading exponent of literary realism. He is known especially for his debut novel Madame Bovary (1857). This novel, Sentimental Education, written in 1869, is considered one of the most influential novels of the 19th century. La Vie Privée de Robespierre - Bernard Nabonne (1946 edition.) Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre (6 May 1758 – 28 July 1794) was a French lawyer and politician, as well as one of the best known and most influential figures associated with the French Revolution. Maire-Antoinette, Reine de France - Auguste Lescalier (1940 edition.) Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna (2 November 1755 – 16 October 1793) was the last Queen of France before the French Revolution. Married to King Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette was convicted by the Revolutionary Tribunal of high treason and executed by guillotine on the Place de la Révolution. So this book will be an interesting read! Phédon ou De Immortalité de L'ame - Platon (1952 edition.) The Phaedo is acknowledged to be one of Plato's masterpieces. Contes du Lundi - Alphonse Daudet (late 1800's edition.) Alphonse Daudet (13 May 1840 – 16 December 1897) was a French novelist. This book, Contes du Lundi is a series of short stories 'The Monday Tales'! To display them altogether you will need a minimum space of 15cms/ 6" high x 18cms/ 7" long x 12cms/ 4¾" deep. They weigh 1.5kgs/ 3.3lbs. Sign up at the bottom of the homepage on our website: https://www.tiggyandpip.com to receive our newsletter and discount/sales offers. Tiggy x
