Tiggy & Pip
Tiggy & Pip is a vintage home décor shop by mother and son décor and interior design loving duo, Tiggy and Pip Coudray. With a shared love of all things French and vintage we opened our shop in 2011. Based in France, between Cognac and La Rochelle, we source unusual items from recent French and European history. Everyday French household items from the 1880's to 1980's which, although at one time were plentiful, are now increasingly rare and collectible. We source specialist props for films/photo shoots and interior designers. Many of our 'finds' are currently on display in a number of top New York restaurants and Hollywood apartments.

Description

Price includes shipping! - see shipping notes. This vintage hand painted ceramic cheese/ cake serving plate carries the POËT LAVAL mark on the underside and dates from the 1960's / early 1970's. The design has perhaps been inspired by a Cezanne still life as it has the intense colors, dark outlines and bold objects associated with works of that time. It is absolutely stunning 'close up'. It has a majolica glaze and the artist has outlined the objects for higher impact. The coffee pot is a gorgeous, rich chocolaty brown in the center and the fruit has been 'foam' glazed, raised against the smooth, glossy finish of the background. The cherries are a warm, intense red and the pear and apple a 'zesty, citrus' bright yellow. A very tactile and striking table centerpiece. A real 'talking point' for your 'after dinner' conversation. Rare and collectible. It has a twisted wrought Iron handle, which can be unscrewed for ease of storage or for wall display. Poët Laval (Pronounced Pwet!) is a village in south eastern France, not far from Montelimar. It has long been involved in the production of pottery. This platter measures 30cms/ 11 ¾" diameter and has no chips. There is some slight 'hairline crackle' to the glaze, that is consistent with the age of the piece, and which in no way detracts from the beauty of this amazing piece of pottery. The perfect gift for cheese lovers. Why not give this plate as a gift to your dinner host/hostess along with some French cheeses and a bottle of Bordeaux wine..........Perfection!................
