Tiggy
Tiggy & Pip
Tiggy & Pip is a vintage home décor shop by mother and son décor and interior design loving duo, Tiggy and Pip Coudray. With a shared love of all things French and vintage we opened our shop in 2011. Based in France, between Cognac and La Rochelle, we source unusual items from recent French and European history. Everyday French household items from the 1880's to 1980's which, although at one time were plentiful, are now increasingly rare and collectible. We source specialist props for films/photo shoots and interior designers. Many of our 'finds' are currently on display in a number of top New York restaurants and Hollywood apartments.

This black, Bakelite telephone has an extra ear piece, known in France as an 'écouteur' (listener) and we can imagine Inspector Maigret using one just like it! The additional ear piece sits neatly in its own cradle at the back of the phone. This phone is in remarkable condition, with just one chip in the base at the front (see images.) The dial moves freely, making that fabulous clicking noise when dialing. We're selling it as a decorative object but it's possible that a clever telecoms engineer could wire it to modern standards. It was originally the property of the P.T.T. - Postes, Télégraphes et Téléphones - the French administration of postal services and telecommunications, formed in 1921. It ceased to exist in 1991, when it became separated into todays 'La Poste' and 'France Télécom.' The plate on the base states that it was working on 06th July 1964 (marché de 6.7.64) so it's a genuine, authentic vintage piece. Hard to part with - we think it's super cool and would make a great gift for anyone who loves retro 1960's decor. It weighs 1.8kgs /4lbs! It measures 14cms/ 5½" high, 29cms/ 11½" at its widest (the handset) and is 23cms/ 9" deep (including the additional earpiece) Whats not to love?...........Bonne conversation! We ship worldwide. Your purchase will be carefully packaged and shipped from France using La Poste's First Class 'Colissimo International' service. It will be fully tracked, signed for and insured.
