Handsome brass candle holders from a Lutheran church that had to downsize. Very substantial Christian relics (the IHS is a Latin variation for Jesus Christ) most likely dating back to the 1960s. They probably were part of a larger floor candelabra. Lovely decorative and functional item as is!
These were originally created as "candle extenders" or "candle joiners" to place on top of another candle to extend the length! They are still sold today at church supply stores, but I do believe these to be older, given where I found them.
Very good to excellent vintage condition. Unpolished with light corrosion, which would probably shine up beautifully. Otherwise no breaks, damage or heavy scratches.
Each measures 4.5" high x 2" wide at shield.
Holds a candle with a 1.5" diameter.
