Nikki G, Ma. 01-05-19 Received! Beautiful!!
This elegantly scalloped oval antique silverplate**E.G. Webster & Sons tray is such a simple piece, and so beautiful. It has the initial "F" in the center, also beautifully and elegantly done, and its triple-edged designed border adds the finishing touch to this traditional yet modern-looking piece. The oval shaped tray, which is in very good antique condition with a bit of normal wear from age and use, is from the turn of the century, and would look amazing on any table or holding your favorite cocktails. It measures 18.0 inches long x 12.0 inches wide x 1.0 inches deep.
**E.G. WEBSTER & SON HISTORY
In 1886 A.A. Webster left the partnership (hi formed A.A. Webster & Co) and E.G. Webster formed a new partnership with his son Fred H. Webster under the name of E.G. Webster & Son.
E.G. Webster died in 1900 and the business was continued by his son Fred H. Webster until 1928 when the firm was sold to International Silver Co. F.H. Webster continued for some time his activity in the firm (he died in 1941) but the production was moved to Meriden and combined with the Barbour Silver Co factory "A".
In 1961 the trademark was changed to Webster Wilcox until 1981 when the business was sold to Oneida Silversmiths.
