This desk/table is at least 40 years old (belonged to my late husband). I do not know what kind of wood it is, but it is wood. I hesitate to refer to it as either "desk" or "table."The top opens, and dishes and the like could be stored there. The interior is 3" deep and otherwise matches the dimensions of the outer surface: 35 1/4" x 47 1/2". But there are no drawers, which would fulfill the definition of "desk." I am quite uncertain how otherwise to describe a handsome piece of furniture that is otherwise unadorned and plain. The last picture shows the grain. There are some imperfections. As can be seen in the pictures, it is too large for the room in which it now sits. I would like to replace it with a smaller desk.
