Vintage Soviet Carnival Poster for Odessa
I am getting ready for a revamp of our family home. Apparently we never got rid of anything. These treasures need to find a new home. Yours perhaps?
1989 public poster celebrating the performing arts of the city of Odessa on the Black Sea in Ukraine.
Fantastic, vibrant graphics! Created by a famous artist: Mykola Vylkun.
Original and signed by the artist.
Translates loosely, "Carnival w/ procession for Odessians" The names of the streets for the route on the bottom.
This is a traditional, theatrical procession through the streets of Odessa with many performances and costumes.
Good condition with a few minor nicks around the edges which will surely be hidden by a frame.
A great artifact of the USSR. Fabulous colors. Unique and surely a conversation piece. Many soviet fine artists were commissioned to produce posters for public events as part of their civic duty. These are precious and very collectible.
Aside from all that, this poster is just simply so cool.
Thanks for looking.
I have a few more I will be listing soon.
