Tiggy
Tiggy & Pip
Tiggy & Pip is a vintage home décor shop by mother and son décor and interior design loving duo, Tiggy and Pip Coudray. With a shared love of all things French and vintage we opened our shop in 2011. Based in France, between Cognac and La Rochelle, we source unusual items from recent French and European history. Everyday French household items from the 1880's to 1980's which, although at one time were plentiful, are now increasingly rare and collectible. We source specialist props for films/photo shoots and interior designers. Many of our 'finds' are currently on display in a number of top New York restaurants and Hollywood apartments.

Description

This is a stunning set of five antique French books in faded blue/grey tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect. There are two books here by one of France's most famous writers, Jules Verne, to give your bookshelves added French Chic! They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft blues and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. This 'light blue/grey' book bundle is made up of French, antiquarian books, very collectible and increasingly hard to find. They are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. They have been held and read by many, many people who have 'thumbed through' them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic. Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting. The five books are all distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose: The titles are: Leçons de Langue Française, Par Une Réunion de Professeurs, Cours Superièur (hardcover 1905 edition.) An amazing book, packed full of language lessons and exercises, analysis and verb conjugations. 20,000 Lieues Sous Les Mers, 1ère partie - Jules Verne (hardcover 1928 edition.) Part One of 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea' the classic science fiction adventure novel by French writer Jules Verne, first published in 1870. 20,000 Lieues Sous Les Mers, 2ème partie - Jules Verne (hardcover 1928 edition.) Part Two of the adventure. The book was highly acclaimed when it was released and remains so; it is regarded as one of the premiere adventure novels and one of Verne's greatest works. Lettres sur L'Histoire de France, tome second, de Henri IV à nos jours - Georges de Pascal (Paperback 1910 edition.) This book is a study of Frances history, through correspondence, starting from the reign of King Henri IV of France in 1589 to the third republic in 1870. Manuel du Breveté Mécanicien, Connaissances Genérales Indispensables aux Mécaniciens - Georges Ramat (paperback 1946 edition.) This is a wonderful book for apprentice mechanics. If it's not in here it isn't worth knowing! There are chapters on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, electricity, forces, rotation and balance. Packed full of exploding diagrams of pumps and pistons, siphons and batteries. It has the words 'Connaissances Genérales Indispensables aux Mécaniciens' stamped through the pages so that it can be seen when closed. A gorgeous book.
