Live edge dining table and bench made with Katsura wood. Katsura is a rare species originally from Japan. This particular tree was part of a former Gold Coast era estate on Long Island. Felled by Superstorm Sandy back 2012, it remained among a large pile of logs for about six years until my friend and I salvaged it, milled it, and had it Kiln dried in the Hudson Valley along with several other hardwoods logs.
The table and the bench feature hand cut bow ties and a large diamond shape. Both are finished with a natural, non-toxic finish that enhances the character of the wood without producing an overly glossy appearance. Heavy duty steel legs with adjustable feet make both pieces sturdy.
