We refurbish, upcycle, hack, design and build new home furnishings — small furniture, accessories and wall art. All the furniture and artwork we create is designed in our studio and built in our workshop in rural Whatcom County, Washington. Our experience as multi-disciplined designers has exposed us to a wide array of visual art forms and architectural design styles that significantly influence our creative sensibility. Our appreciation for both country and urban lifestyles is displayed as we juxtapose vintage and contemporary design forms. Our love of the Pacific Northwest is demonstrated in our design choices and material selection.
This cedar chest was found in several pieces and generally in disrepair. The body of the piece was likely originally covered in a hardwood veneer but it appeared to have been removed years ago. We were told by the family that it was owned by an elderly women and was the cedar chest she received when she graduated from high school. Based on her age the chest was manufactured in the mid-1930s. The interior of the chest is cedar and is in good condition. We contemporized the piece with new paint, grass cloth veneer, tree limb graphic and twig handles.
