LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
This is an especially lovely Pepsi crate from the 1950s. The red paint has developed a lovely pinkish hue which looks terrific in combination with the honey-toned, weathered wood. The crate measures approximately 18.5" across x 12" deep x 5" tall. It has two central divides, and reads "PEPSI" on the front and back and "MERCED-MODESTO 24 BOTTLES Drink Pepsi-Cola" on both ends. There are also two stamps on the interior of the box that reads "AMERICAN BOX CORPORATION SAN FRANCISCO".
The crate is in good vintage condition. There is general surface wear consistent with age including scrapes, stains, gouges and residual dirt. There are also some small splits in the wood on the base. All of the metal banding is firmly in place with only minimal corrosion, and structurally the crate is still very solid and fully functional.
This is altogether a great piece of Americana! I have seen these iconic crates used in endless different ways and featured equally in cottage and industrial decor. They make great containers for books, tools, art supplies, bottles (of course), or a collection of potted plants. They can also be hung on the wall as shelving or upcycled into anything from a tabletop to a kid's wagon on wheels!
Due to shipping costs this item is for local San Francisco/Bay Area pickup only.
