for sale is a vintage industrial chair by DoMore company. the company originated in 1919 by two American GI’s returning home from WW1. this particular chair was originally produced between 1925–1930. it was one of the first ergonomically designed seating solutions geared to extend productivity. in the 30’s, Do/More established the Posture Research Institute as a non-profit division. the institute studied posture and its effect on the body and health, and was likely one of the first organized studies of the science which would eventually become ergonomics. they must have done well, since the company is still around in the same business. chair features steel four-legged tubular base with casters, wing-nut adjustable back tilt and scalable backrest height. we stripped the base and reupholstered cushions with salvaged leather.
