Aubusson Carpet, hand woven in France, Circa 1850
$235,000 or Best Offer
There is no other carpet like this in the world. It was hand-woven in France circa 1850 and has magnificent colors and an exquisite floral pattern. Beautiful carpet - oval end, finest workmanship, 17 feet 2 inches x 20 feet 7 inches. I searched around the world - Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco - for eight years before I found this extraordinary carpet.
The carpet has been in storage since 2002. It is an exceptional design, curved end looks beautiful facing a fireplace or a curved bay window (see photo); colors are very rich yet delicate...main photo is most accurate color-wise as are the details of the center floral motifs.
NOTE: There are not three vertical lines (seams) on the carpet as could be misinterpreted in the main photo. They can be steamed out, they are fold lines that come from the carpet having been folded for a long time. It is also not uneven around the curved edge as is shown on the main photo. Again, these are wrinkles that can easily be steamed out.
Carpet is completely backed with heavy natural fabric.
ALSO NOTE: Burgundy colored border (see detail photo) has been repaired over the years and there are several areas where repairs were made that color does not match exactly...it is close, not exact.
Carpet is located in San Francisco and can be viewed and picked up there. Free shipping worldwide; however custom's duties and taxes will be the responsibility of the purchaser.
