Eliel Saarinen for Rway Furniture Birds Eye Maple

Posted on Mon May 21 2018

Eliel Saarinen, architect, designer and father or Eero Saarinen designed this art deco style birds-eye maple nightstand for Rway Furniture of Sheybogan, Wisconsin. Manufactured in the 1940s this maple nightstand has a slightly recessed top. There is a single drawer at the center of the piece with curved ends. The legs have a flared design. The stand retains the original Rway metal medallion label in the drawer. We believe this piece retains the original finish and hardware. The finish is not perfect, please see photos. The biggest issue is one of the legs where veneer is starting to pull away. Still a fabulous piece. We do have the original glass top which fits within the recessed area. We can not guarantee the glass will arrive in one piece, but we will wrap carefully in bubble wrap and include it with the nightstand when shipping.
