Hand crafted in Appalachia USA from solid cherry hardwood. No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The base dimensions are 42.5 x 80 x 17 inches. Accounting for the headboard the dimensions are 42.5 x 80 x 38.5 inches. The upper mattress is a twin XL and the trundle mattress is also a twin XL. The bed is a platform configuration for use without box springs. The bed is configured for the mattresses resting on slats. The space between the slats is about 1.5". 20 slats are provided for the top and 20 for the trundle. The trundle rolls on wheels. The level of the trundle slats is positioned so that when the trundle is raised, the top of the trundle mattress is at the same height as the top of the upper mattress. The trundle can be used in the position that is low to the floor as is shown. Or it can be used raised so that both mattress tops are at the same level. When the trundle is raised it easily attaches to the upper frame with pegs. Thus, the two mattresses are held rigidly in position relative to each other. The sides of the two mattresses touch each other. The support boards for the lifted trundle are attached under the trundle and stored there when not in use. When the trundle is lifted they swing down on hinges. The bed can be shipped in pieces that lay flat in the box. Assembly instructions provided. This design is also helpful for people who move because it permits more compact shipping and storage. I got this bed 2 years ago for $1200 but I’m moving and it’s not going to fit in my next space. Would let it go for $800. It is in mostly excellent condition. I will also throw in the 2 mattresses if you want them.
