Tiggy & Pip is a vintage home décor shop by mother and son décor and interior design loving duo, Tiggy and Pip Coudray.
With a shared love of all things French and vintage we opened our shop in 2011.
Based in France, between Cognac and La Rochelle, we source unusual items from recent French and European history. Everyday French household items from the 1880's to 1980's which, although at one time were plentiful, are now increasingly rare and collectible. We source specialist props for films/photo shoots and interior designers. Many of our 'finds' are currently on display in a number of top New York restaurants and Hollywood apartments.

This is a stunning set of five antique French books in faded red tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect.
If you love shabby chic books then these are for you. They look lovely tied up with natural twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft tones and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots.
This 'red' book bundle is made up of five French, antiquarian school books, very collectible and increasingly hard to find.
They are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. They have been held and read by many, many people who have 'thumbed through' them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.
Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.
The five books are all hard cover editions, they are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose:
The titles are:
Grammaire Française, Théorie, 1134 Exercises, 133 Rédactions. Cours primaire - J. Dussouchet (1921 edition.) Studies of French grammar, vocabulary and verb conjugation.
Nouveau cours d'arithématique, cours moyen - P. Leyssenne (1911 edition.) This book has a wonderful two-tone pink candy striped cover and is packed full of fabulous old diagrams and illustrations of angles, spheres, cones and mathematical equations.
Arithmétique, theorie, 2471 exercices and problèmes, calcul mental, calcul rapide. Cours élémentaire - A. Lemoine. (edition date unknown). This book is published by France's famous Parisian publisher 'Librairie Hachette'
Everything you need to know about the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Ancient Egyptians!
If you would like to display the books in a bundle, tied up with the twine (like the photos), then you would need a minimum space of 11cms high x 23cms long x 15cms deep. (4¼"x 9" x 6")
The more book bundles I compile the more difficult it gets to part with them as each set is so steeped in history and life that they 'feel' alive to me.
Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy seeing these books as much as I have enjoyed finding them.
