Brutalist Sgraffito Vases Hal Lasky Los Artesanos
Rare and Early artisanal Mid-Century, Brutalist, stoneware from Los Artesanos ceramic art studio, Puerto Rico "Isla del Sol". Great examples of the distinctive ceramic design taught by Hal Lasky.
Dimensions for both: 10.5" tall, 4" diameter.
Pair of tall vases from Los Artesanos ceramic studio from Puerto Rico. Incised, sgraffito pattern, terra cotta clay, transparent white pigment glaze. Vintage 60's era. Signed on bottom "Puerto Rico, La Isla" on one and "Puerto Rico" on the other.
Los Artesanos studio was located in Santurce, Puerto Rico and operated in the 50s and 60s. Pottery was managed and overseen by master ceramist Hal Lasky.
Piece are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Bottom of the vases have the distinctive Los Artesanos handwritten signature. These are early editions of Los Artesanos pottery, before the studio stamped their items with a metal seal.
Both vases show the sgraffito technique and influence of Hal Lasky.
