Vintage Mid Century Ebonized Walnut Arm Chair
GYRE & GIMBLE
Serving up a Sundry Cache of 20th Century Forms for Madly Modern LifeStyling
Sleek, low-slung Scandinavian Modernist form merges with chic Regency Revival elements in this truly scarce & excellent lounge chair. Designed in the 60's by Merton Gershun for American of Martinsville, all the hallmarks of high quality design & execution resonate throughout this chic functional modernist design.
Sloping arms & rear legs, carved-form front legs, the low, slat-back frame is 'ebonized' w/original, gloss-black finish, & partnered with b&w python-print cotton cushions.
Classic elegance, mid-century Modernist scale & form bring solid Modernist Decor impact in this incredibly versatile & handsome piece. Smashing just as it is-or with switched out cushion covers, the depth of versatility is built-in. The form & finish offset a slew of color/texture possibilities.
The solid walnut frame is sound & without damage. The original black gloss overpaint paint is remarkably intact & elegant. All original spring coil loops are present, fresh & without detraction. Cushions & covers are in exceptional original vintage condition. Original label is present.
