Dick Moldroski Oil & Mixed Media Painting On Board Depicting An Abstract 18" x 28" Unframed 93-226 August 31, 1993 CHARLESTON, IL--Al "Dick" Moldroski of Charleston has retired from Eastern Illinois University after serving on the art faculty for 30 years. Moldroski came to Eastern in 1963 from Glenville state College in West Virginia where he taught drawing, painting and art survey courses. He has also taught art at Southern Illinois University-carbondale, Flint Junior College in Michigan, Flint community schools, st. Cloud University in Minnesota and Maryland Institute of Art. Highlights of his 39-year teaching career have included that of an exchange professor at Portsmouth Polytechnic in England, where he initiated a faculty and student exchange program between the school and Eastern.He also spent a year as an exchange/visiting professor at Wyzsza Szkola Rolniczo-Pedagogiczna University in Siedlce, Poland. Listed in Who's Who in American Art, Moldroski has received various awards in painting and drawing exhibitions, including a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation grant in painting, which recognizes the top 12 young artists in the country. He also has received research grants in painting, serigraphy and paper casting. He most recently was recognized at Eastern's spring commencement ceremony where he represented the College of Fine Arts as faculty marshal. He carried the university mace and led the graduates during the processional and recessional. Moldroski has served on various departmental and university committees at Eastern, including the steering committee for the "Make Room for Art" campaign, which resulted in the construction of the Burl Ives Art studio Hall on campus. He spearheaded the campaign's benefit auction. He also has been involved in "Celebration, " the College of Fine Arts' annual festival of the arts, and has served on the university's study Abroad Scholarship Committee. Moldroski earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana State University and master's from Michigan state University. He has also completed post-masters work at the Maryland Institute of Art. He and his wife, Martha, who recently retired as a third grade teacher at Washington School in Mattoon, plan to remain in Charleston.
