This bookcase is made of solid wood, likely mahogany. Built in a simple English style, dating I'm told from the 1920s, it's in very fair condition, consistent with age and use. It's only ever known two homes. They don't build 'em like this any more. The quality of the workmanship is best revealed in the finished back. Unlike cheaply made bookcases that are designed to back a wall, this handsome thing was intended to be seen and, as one of a pair, was likely used to separate a sitting room from a larger living room. Sorry, only one is on offer.
