A gorgeous original vintage rug created using scraps of recycled textiles and exhibiting beautiful summery pastel and primary colours and a fine, painterly geometric composition Size: 2.02m by 1.06m We accept returns - you can buy in confidence Boucherouite (pronounced boo-shay-REET), is a word meaning in Arabic ‘a piece torn from used clothing’, or a ‘scrap’. Wonderfully extravagant in color, these Berber rugs make use of rag strips and yarns from recycled clothes, wool, cotton and even Lurex, threads of plastic cut from grain-transport bags, and nylon. Where original vegetable dyes were on the whole subtle, the dyes in these scraps are much brighter and bolder. The rugs can feature asymmetrical patterning and free-form shapes based on the tribal symbols and motifs used in wool carpets, such as lozenges, small squares, and chevron shapes.
