Early Knoll Womb Chair and Ottoman. 1st generation, original label on chair. Molded plywood shell was discovered during reupholstery, original finish on frame & original feet. Has been reupholstered with Maharam Cobblestone fabric, Earth color, very similar to Knoll Boucle fabric in Pumpernickel. This is some of the information I received from Linda at the Knoll Museum in East Greenville, Pennsylvania, " She can tell by the tag that this is a very old chair. She thought that was Hans Knoll’s first factory location in NY. She cannot remember the dates we made the chair in plywood." (the "She" is a colleague she conferred with) Manufacturing address is Long Island City, NY and no zip code on label. (zip codes started in 1963) Known provenance, was purchased in the early 50's. Chair is a large: 40 w x 34d x 35.5 h Ottoman is a large: 25.5w x 20d x 16h Seller can arrange shipping, price will depend on destination.
