I am trained in traditional upholstery methods--that means handmade, one-at-a-time using hammers and tacks. And I have some extra pieces to sell!
A small mid-century swivel chair that's truly worthy of a queen! Original yellow stained wood is enhanced by a royal yellow silk pulled tight to place a star in the center--it's inspired by some of Napoleon's chairs I saw at the Louvre last summer. Fabric design is reminiscent of eastern dye techniques, and seat carries a delicate paisley overlay. Gray ultra suede border, with a soft yellow and gray print more typical of its mid-century roots is used on the outside back.
Like all of our pieces, this chair was first restored and then reupholstered by hand in our Brooklyn studio, using traditional upholstery techniques (hammer and tacks, no staples) and structural materials (jute webbing, burlap, cotton batting, foam, etc.)
