This is a Minerva sofa by Peter Hvidt + Orla Molgaard-Nielson, a classic piece of mid-century design. Made in Denmark in the 1950's by France and Son for John Stuart Inc. Teak frame, steel fittings and spring cushions.
Teak frame is in excellent condition, as are the springs but the original grey, herringbone wool upholstery could use updating, or a full reupholster and there is some cat scratch damage to the pillow at the arm rest, the front and the corner of the back cushion, all pictured, thus the excellent price.
With the cushion on it measures 74" long, 28" deep, 16" high (seat) and 31" high (back).
It was designed originally with two arms, meant to be removable in order to convert to a daybed. Currently there is only one arm, installed on the right, but it could be moved to the left.
Pickup only in Brooklyn, only reasonable and serious offers please.
*Please note, while the cushions have been covered we do have cats so if you have cat allergies, you may need to completely re-upholster!
