Description

A beautiful, seemingly rare, side or console or choose-your-own-adventure table! >2"-thick burnished wood top (beautiful burl and character) bolted to a classic antique wrought-iron/cast iron Singer sewing machine base. It has that great oval Singer medallion, and the medallion is on both sides, which I think is pretty cool and I haven't seen before. Nice and symmetrical. I've used it a thousand different ways--living room, dining room, kitchen! Note: there's no treadle. (That actually makes it a much more functional table.) I got this from some neighbors in Prospect Heights a few years ago. They said the base came from an abandoned sewing factory in Flatbush. The iron base is somewhat heavy, but it's on wheels, so it's relatively easy to move around. (The wheels could use some love, but they still roll!)
