Description

This is a fabulous set consisting of a French 'Foie Gras' Serving Platter, shaped like a Reclining Duck and Six Entrée/Hors d'oeuvres/Starter 'Foie Gras' Recipe Plates. The 'duck' presentation serving dish has a gorgeous blue glaze on the head and a vibrant golden yellow beak. 'Foie Gras' is written into the glazed ceramic, along with a few blue lines to show the 'feathers' in his tail. The plates are decorated with a wonderful illustration of geese being fed on a farm underneath the recipe for 'Le Foie Gras' (Liver Pâté). 'Faire dégorger le foie pendant six heures dans de l'eau salée à raison de dix gr de sel par litre. Mettre à chauffer à feu doux dans une casserole de la graisse d'oie. - Plongez le foie dans le corps gras. - Assaisonnez de sel, poivre, laurier, girofle. - Laissez cuire doucement pendant trente minutes.' Foie Gras is a popular and well-known delicacy in French cuisine. Foie Gras is a Pâté, Parfait or Mousse made from fattened Duck or Goose Livers. Its flavour is described as rich, buttery, and delicate, unlike that of an ordinary duck or goose liver. French law states that "Foie Gras belongs to the protected cultural and gastronomical heritage of France." This wonderful 'Quirky' Set is the Ideal way to Serve your Foie Gras Course at Dinner Parties. Foie Gras is often served as an Entrée/Starter on a Slice of Baguette and with a Sweet, White Wine. This set is in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks. There is some slight wear to one or two of the words on the plates, but nothing that is noticeable at normal viewing distance and it in no way detracts from the beauty or functionality of this set. The dusk dish measures 28cms (11") long x 15cms (6") at its widest. The plates are 20cms (7¾") diameter. They all have the 'Revol Porcelaine France' mark on the undersides.
