Palaset by Ristomatti Ratia for Treston Oy Finland

Posted on Sat May 12 2018

Iconic modular shelving / storage system that set the standard for what "functional" furniture would become in the decades that followed, the Palset collection was designed by Ristomatti Ratia and produced by Treston Oy Finland for a few years, beginning in 1972. Cubes could be bought individually, fitted with various other accessories or even smaller cubes inside, building your own custom system. Everything came in the colors white, brown yellow and green. They became quite popular in Scandinavia and well-known abroad. A few years later, the oil crisis occurred, and they stopped production completely. The collection was revived for a short time in the early 1980's but was made of a different material. No one bought the new redesign and it went out of production again shortly thereafter. So basically this was produced for a few short years in the 70's by one little company in Finland. Very rare and iconic piece of furniture/ design history. Don't miss this. Delivery / Shipping only pls. Set of 8 boxes with various accessories, drawers, doors, etc. Good to fair vintage condition. Typical age related wear.
