Pair (2) unique 1950s blonde oak/ cerused oak figural table lamps with fiberglass shades by Yasha Heifetz or in the style of. While not a lot is known about this designer, it is known that he had a Manhattan shop that opened in or sometime after 1938, and that in 1950 he had lighting designs--Heifetz Lighting--that won praise in the MoMA Modernism show in 1950/51, and that he worked often in carved woods and brass, and the styling of the carved pieces was like what is shown in the images above. The shades on these lamps are original to the lamps, and are identical to spun fiberglass shades used in Heifetz lighting. Lamps like these sell for quite a bit, but I have priced these to sell--likely to a decorator. The shape is a carved sinuous woman's body and the shades are kind of spectacular. The bases are a painted salmon pink in a high gloss marine style paint, maybe original/maybe added later to talk to a Palm Beach-y decor. The shades are a whip stitch style and have an olive green hue, and look great all lit up. Perfect as small bedside table lamps or accent lamps on a high credenza or to flank a long bedroom dresser, because blondes, they say, have more fun. They are petite--26.5" tall--and were probably designed as bedside lamps, but it's also a great size for an open kitchen counter top where you like having a table lamp (or lamps), or for a foyer credenza for hall lighting. If you love them from these pics you will find a place for them. The bodies are in excellent vintage condition; the shades show some wear and minor discoloration from years of being used. One shade appears slightly darker than the other, but in person it's not really that apparent. One may have sat in the sunlight more than the other, but they are both lovely when lit, and look basically the same. They are in fine working order, and there is no need to rewire or do anything more than plug them in and light up your life. 7 diameter base 12" shade bottom diameter; 8" across the top x 13-1/8" high 26.5" tall (overall height with shade) 15.5" from base to fitting Located in Williamsburg, near the L at Graham or Montrose (somewhere in the middle of the 2 stations); the M at Lorimer Street; the G at Broadway. Or I can drive them to you and deliver curbside for 20 dollars in the city. If you live in Westchester of Fairfield County I can arrange a meet up on weekends. Cash only, please.
