This is a gorgeous one-of-a-kind Mid-Century Modern Faux Malachite Dining Table designed by Louis Gartner.
The table consists of four pieces: The Faux Malachite tabletop with a hand-painted onyx border (see inset photos); two U-shaped Lucite bases and a Faux Malachite crossbar which threads through the bases to complete the look.
Gartner was a consultant for Sotheby's for many years and he owned a shop on Worth Avenue in West Palm Beach, Florida where we bought this table. A protege of Isabel O'Neil's, Gartner is best known for his faux stone needlepoint designs and his books on same (available on Amazon).
The table measures 78" Long by 44" Wide by 30" high and can seat 8 -10 people.
It also doubles as a stunning front entrance table or home office desk!
There is one hidden condition issue. Due to find cracks at the top of one of the bases, we had brass screwed inserted to prevent further damage. The screws are completely hidden, however, as the tabletop snaps on to the Lucite bases completely hiding them. All photos here are current, so what you see is what you get. I'm description below, please note bases are.lucite, not plastic.
