for sale are a pair of vintage stools by Cramer.
Cramer has been a leader in office chair production since 1934. from the beginning, Cramer set out to improve the short-comings of office furniture. part of the issues were nuts and bolts used to adjust height coming lose and getting lost. this pair of stools have an attached spring-loaded lever to adjust the height, demonstrating Cramer's ingenuity to improve on the issue. seat back is also adjustable in height and depth.
each chair is covered in original fabric – one autumn orange and the other rust – both of which have been removed and washed. tubed steel legs are capped with rolling casters. chairs swivel and roll smoothly and are very comfortable.
on each stool, the seat height adjusts from 19" to 25.5". seat bottom is measured at 17.5" by 14". seat back – 13" by 8". knob to adjust seat back height is missing on both; however, bolt holding seat back in position can be turned easily with wrench.
this pair was picked up in the coolest building we have seen in Chicago. they have "UND, Biology Dept" inscribed by hand under each seat – we had another pair just like this from the same department. one can only image the learning they facilitated.
sold as a pair, otherwise they might get lonely.
