If you're a fan of midcentury modern and Scandinavian design, you probably already know about Hans Wegner. Among many other pieces, Wegner designed the "Round Chair" which were used during the first televised election debate between John F Kennedy and Richard Nixon in 1960.
I acquired these four chairs from a Craiglist seller in 2008, and then I had them restored and reupholstered at The Furniture Joint in Manhattan.
None of these chairs has a manufacturer's mark, but there is a spot under the seat toward the front where 2 holes must have once held a label. But based on the quality of the wood and the finger joinery linking the seat back with the arm rests, these chairs are definitely not knock-offs.
Since I bought them, these chairs have continuously been with me in a smoke-free and pet-free home.
You must pick up these chairs from my apartment in an elevator building close to 14th Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan (next to Union Square).
