The Hunted House is a great furniture store on the 14th St NW strip. Located on the second floor of an old townhouse, the store is arranged in mini tableaus of mid-century modern furniture. The small staged rooms really help display some great pieces of furniture. It almost feels like you are in someone’s living room – a very hip person’s living room...

If you go to the store's website, http://www.huntedhousedc.com, the story of how the store came to be is there under "About Us".. Seems like the owner(s) started it as a home-based biz selling on Craigslist and, as it grew, they moved it to Eastern Market and from there opened up the shop on 14th Street. That sounds pretty cool! I have visited and I must say I find that what they have is pretty much different from the other stores that do vintage.
They seem to go for really cool pieces that really stand out and at that, they don't charge a lot for `em. I do the 14th Street thing pretty much every week and I always hit up Hunted House because it's often resulted in a "hot" find. Start by checking out what's on the street in front of the shop. styleseeker on Jun 20, 2008
The store looks interesting, but I wish the piece itself were longer and revealed a bit about the history or the owner. There must be a story behind the name at least... oldmanbl on Apr 23, 2008
