UES 10021. Far from the cool clean lines of downtown hipster modernism, sits the Finished Room, dead center in the heart of the Upper East Side. While this is not our style, we have friends who love the rich, European, antiquey look that this store has perfected, and pass this on a good quick fix for anyone jonesing for French fire buckets, gold tipped walking canes, art deco serving ware, embroidered pillows and lamps, lamps, lamps.

The merchandise here is awful. Reminds me of those glittery, outrageously faux Midwestern gift shops selling painfully tacky clutter to painfully tacky tourists. The above posts ARE correct. In the provenance of "kitsch," the Finished Room's a major player in bringing crap into our homes and cluttering up our lives. stagebanter on Jan 12, 2010
