A lot of brightly colored and trendy kids stores have popped up in our neighborhood in the last few years. Pickleboots opened its doors this past April. What's unique about Pickleboots is their large selection of fabrics and beautiful custom-made bedding, sewn by owner Melanie Williams herself.

Plain Jane was the first baby store I ever set foot into, and when the time came (after much searching) we got our custom turquoise crib from them. And then a year or so later, the toddler adapter. mschatelaine on Aug 22, 2007
If you're talking about Plain Jane in Manhattan, Melanie was the owner of that store with her two friends. They closed in Nov of 2006 and then Melanie moved to Park Slope. julia on Aug 22, 2007
