The Boston Modern Furniture Mafia is on the rise. Actually, Oriac has been around for awhile, I just never took them seriously enough, probably because they like Phillipe Starck's endless plastic drivel too much. Catalogue/Online only, this is one I now keep because of their odd choices and particularly good storage and home office ideas. A cross between Ikea and Design Without (sic) Reach, Oriac bills itself as modern furniture and accessories, and they are rather heavy on the accessories and colorful modern plastic products that seem to be overrunning the modern design world, BUT they do have a different selection (stuff you don't see elsewhere), their prices are good, and they stock most items so shipping is quick. I particularly like the Workout Station Desk for $648 (pictured above) and these cool, bent plywood Fatty Cases for $175. They also stock the ever popular coffee table/dining table, Lifter, which is knock off of Ligne-Roset's Crescendo. . They are also good for lighting, small bathroom and household fixtures, and (lately) rugs. MGR

Wow. This has been quite a thread spanning over the past 11-12 months since Oriac blipped off the map. Fode, thank you so much for filling in the blanks for the fans of this unique design retailer. So, I'm dying to know what have you done with yourself, besides just answering questions here... Have you opened your own store yet? I think the store should be called Fode :-) str3ss on Nov 14, 2006
