Mini beautiful. It is hard to run a real furniture store. The startup costs and risks are bigger, it takes more room and people don't shop for big things everyday. That is why so many "design" stores are really glorified "gift" and accesssory stores. The little stuff sells. But they all tend to look the same after awhile....

Each year during the holiday season, owner Larry brings in several unique stocking-stuffer items, pre-wrapped and ready move with prices ranging $10-$25--all with high "wow" factor. Last year's standouts were 4-inch tall ceramic vases from China, priced under $15 and packaged in woven straw gift boxes. This store is one of the best-edited and best-merchandised of its kind in LA. Also worth mentioning are the nice selection of design and architecture books, and down-beat music CDs--both of which fit in with the overall vibe of the store. (P.S. A few doors down is arp, which stocks the city's best selection of Ted Muehling accessories and jewelry. Third Street rocks.) Enrique on Apr 8, 2005
