The other day, Gregory blogged planting for LA's Mediterranean Climate. Mordigan's Nurseries, on Third Street, just west of Fairfax, a sprawling gardener’s resource, is a great place to start lookiing for those plants you'll need to create a climate-appropriate garden.

Sometimes nurseries will keep smaller bags of potting soil inside, with their indoor plants. I believe Sunset Nursery (4368 W. Sunset @ Fountain) does this. GingerVitis on Mar 17, 2008

Like many apartment dwellers, I don't have a yard, or even a patio for that matter. I'd like to have a few indoor plants and maybe an herb garden. My biggest problem is potting soil. I can only ever find large bags of it, and usually I only need at most half a bag (usually less) in order to repot my plants. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to find smaller bags of soil, or what I should do with the left overs? Christal on Mar 17, 2008
