When I walked into Le Vigne in Greenwich Village yesterday, I felt like I was seeing what would happen if Pablo Picasso, Lewis Carroll and Louise Nevelson met over drinks and decided to open an Italian wine shop. The decor is minimal and worn in a good way but the charm and genius is in the shelves and storage assembled from second hand tables, chairs, desks and shelves fabricated together whimsically and specifically to hold the many bottles of wine.

And yet it is the most uninviting store front. I live across the street and at first was eager to go in but still haven't made it across the threshold. alexis on Sep 1, 2009
Saw it from across the street last week, was immediately compelled to keep looking. It's really great!
Thanks for featuring it here. olga on Aug 31, 2009
