Old rooms. Going through Chelsea Market last week, the photographs on the walls caught our eye. Looking closely, we saw that Katherine Slingluff was the photographer. Slingluff? Can't forget that one. So we Googled her and found more.

Really beautiful!

Patrick, I think I saw the same Ellis Island photos--Smithsonian magazine, I think? Silverware and plates still on the tables, overflowing file cabinets left untouched. bright_as_yellow on Dec 5, 2008

I once heard the description "elegant decay" used to describe a certain type of New Orleans interiors, but am guessing the term could cover a broader swath of Louisiana, based on Katherine's elegant photos.

They also remind me of some amazing photos I saw once of the unrestored rooms of Ellis Island. You could feel a hundred souls in each empty room.

That small desk/big desk shot is quite moving to me. patrick (the other one) on Jun 10, 2005
