Today we bring you a local DC-area company that has been featured in the Washington Post. Ruthie from Community Forklift here - we're a thrift store for building materials in the DC area. The folks at the Junk In the Trunk have been fantastic supporters of our nonprofit since we opened three years ago.

Not only do they regularly bring us donations of kitchen cabinets, chandeliers, lumber, and other building materials from clients who are cleaning out garages or finishing renovations...but they also donate their hauling services to us!!! Trust me, a thrift store like ours ends up with a lot of broken mirrors and toilets and windows to get rid of! All we have to do is call, and they take it away as quickly and pleasantly as if we were paying customers. This has saved our small nonprofit probably thousands of dollars as we've grown - no small thing for a shoestring budget like ours.

They also never hesitate to spread the word about us, or to donate prizes for our silent auction fundraisers. I love these folks! RuthieatCommunityForklift on Dec 2, 2008

These guys are great! I highly recommend them. They are very well priced and super courteous. I, too, use them for clients, and it leaves everyone feeling as if they've done their small part by recycling and supporting a local business. They have been at the DC Green Festival in the past, so look for them next weekend! embwdc on Oct 30, 2008
