To hell with design! What you really need is a good hardware store! If you are looking for something that you know a real hardware store should have, Garber's will have it: massive big hooks, roller blinds, chains, electrical components, flashlights, tape, tools, a real straw broom. And not only will they help you, but they're friendly, too...

I agree, Garber is great. I work around the corner and I often stop by to pick up supplies on my way home. If the various friendly employees can't help you, then often another customer will. I've had many guys working on nearby construction sites help figure things out.

I agree they are not as cheap as Home Depot, but considering how much less time I spend finding what I need (and how to use it), it's totally worth it. Plus, local businesses are worth supporting when you can (even if it's not always). MochiHome on Apr 6, 2009

I've said it before and I'll say it again (I've even blogged it): Garber Hardware rocks! Nice people, personal attention, better stock than Home Depot, a total understanding of the problems homeowners in the city have and the merchandise they sell, and help delivered with absolutely no condescension.

Go see Nathaniel on a Sunday. He likes visitors. shelter life alex on Apr 6, 2009
