Mention Bay Cities to anyone familiar with the Westside and their enthusiastic response will invariably be, ?They have the BEST sandwiches.? In fact, fans insist that said sandwiches are among the best you can get on the entire West Coast. And yet, there is far more to Bay Cities than their highly desired Godmother sandwich, stacked high with genoa salami, mortadella, coppocola, ham, prosciutto, and provolone.

I think I'm the only person in LA who doesn't like Bay Cities. I don't care for their special bread and many of the toppings on their sandwiches -- I expected more options than just the standard stuff and then some peppers in oil. Just really not at all my cup of tea.
I can't attest to the rest of it, though, like the specialty grocieries. Although they DO sell cookies that taste like chocolate donuts. That part I like. Heather on Sep 29, 2006
